Established in 2013, our journey began with the rescue and revival of Natureland Zoo during a critical period. As a registered charity (NZ Charities Commission #49944), our mission extends beyond running a zoo—we aim to be a vibrant community hub where conservation and education come together.

Collaborating with members of the Zoo and Aquarium Association, Nelson City Council, the Department of Conservation, and various conservation groups, we strive for impactful outcomes. Natureland is proud to lead with one of the highest proportional impacts for conservation among accredited zoos in New Zealand. We are also committed to becoming a key destination for nature play, offering children a gateway to the natural world in an increasingly urban environment.
